we need to go on hiatus for a few weeks
We have many new adventures in store for us here at Marion’s. In the big picture they are great for Marion’s and for you...but.......
Because of a very special project taking place here (and don’t ask because we are not allowed to tell), some much needed repairs on our building and some work we have been dying to do here, we will be closed beginning Monday, May 6th, for a few weeks.
And...because of the nature of the project and work we will be doing Marion’s will return after this hiatus prettier and sexier (well, that’s what I hope for, hehehehe).
Some of the work is out of our control like upgrading the water system and some infrastructure work in the entire building. And in the middle of all this is this mysterious special project that, like I said, I’m not allowed to divulge until after its over.
Rather than closing, then opening, then closing and opening and.... well, we just think its best to spend the time and do this right and be on hiatus for the duration.
Because part of the work is redoing our kitchen we have decided to move our catering company Marion’s a Go-Go to another location for the duration and we will still be operating as usual.
Of course our siblings next door, Antik (formally The Marquee Lounge) and Kings Cross (formally M&R and The Slide) will be open for your pleasure. Bethany and I plus our crew of unusual suspects will be hosting a few Marion’s reunions there during our adventure. Unfortunately because the kitchen will be under reinvention it will be just drinks kids and maybe we’ll bring some Marion’s classic eclectic cuisine in from our catering to keep your taste buds satiated. So, look for future emails.
In July on the 5th, we will be celebrating our “can you believe it?”
18th Anniversary
where we will be turning back the clock again to 1950 when my mom, Marion, opened the original. By then we’ll seem the same but will be wonderfully renewed!
If you been coming here over the years you might remember in 2000 we did something similiar and were closed for a while. The most notable result from that time is our really cool bar top where my mom’s engagement ring is still embedded.
I know you might be disappointed that we aren’t going to be there for a bit. I know I will be and I guess I might be forced to actually take a vacation. Now that would be a strange sensation for me, hehehehe
You, my staff and Marion’s bring so much joy to me and the wait to reconnect will be tough but ultimately rewarding.....
